Multipoint & Pre-Purchase Inspections

Every visit includes a complimentary multipoint inspection. And before you buy a used car, spend a little to avoid spending a lot.

The approach

The complimentary multipoint inspection is not a sales tool for us — it’s how we make sure nothing unsafe leaves our lot. Every vehicle that comes in gets one, whether you’re here for a major repair or a twenty-minute oil change, and there is no charge and no obligation attached to it.

The pre-purchase inspection is the other side of the same idea. A couple hundred dollars spent before you sign can save you from inheriting somebody else’s transmission problem, flood damage, or a frame repair that never got disclosed.

What this service includes

  • Complimentary multipoint inspection with every service visit
  • Brake measurement, tire condition and tread depth
  • Fluid levels, condition and leak inspection
  • Belts, hoses, battery and charging system check
  • Suspension and steering component inspection
  • Full pre-purchase inspection for vehicles you’re considering buying
  • Computer scan for stored and pending fault codes
  • Written findings you can take to the seller or the negotiating table
Every inspections job at Cityline includes a complimentary multipoint inspection and is covered by our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty on most repairs.
Warning signs

When to bring it in.

Any one of these is worth a phone call. Most of them are cheaper to fix now than in three months.

01

You’re about to buy a used car

The single highest-return inspection in this business. Bring it by before you sign anything.

02

Buying privately or out of state

No dealer reconditioning, no return window — an inspection is the only protection you have.

03

The seller says ‘it just needs a little work’

We’ll tell you exactly how little, in dollars.

04

You’re heading out on a road trip

A pre-trip check on brakes, tires, fluids and cooling is cheap insurance.

05

You just inherited or were given a vehicle

Unknown history means unknown maintenance. Start with a baseline.

06

You want a second opinion

Someone else quoted you a large repair? Bring us the estimate and the car.

How we work

Diagnose first. Quote second.

1

Full walk-around and lift inspection

Body, frame, undercarriage, tires, brakes, suspension and leaks.

2

Systems and computer check

Every module scanned for stored, pending and history codes.

3

Road test

Braking, steering, shifting, noise and vibration under real conditions.

4

Written report

Clear findings, prioritized by safety — yours to keep and to negotiate with.

Questions

Inspections, answered.

Yes. Every visit, every vehicle, no charge and no obligation to have any recommended work done. It’s how we operate.

Usually about an hour to ninety minutes depending on the vehicle. Call ahead at 972-442-0099 so we can schedule it — sellers are usually willing to wait if you set it up in advance.

We inspect vehicles here at the shop on Regency Drive. Most sellers, including dealers, will allow a buyer to take a car to an independent shop — if one refuses, that’s useful information on its own.

Call us at 972-442-0099 to confirm current state inspection availability. We can always diagnose and repair whatever is keeping a vehicle from passing.
