Slipping, harsh shifts, delayed engagement or a transmission warning light — diagnosed honestly, because plenty of “transmission failures” aren’t.
“You need a transmission” is one of the most expensive sentences in this industry, and it gets said far too casually. A solenoid, a speed sensor, a wiring fault, low or burnt fluid, or even an engine misfire can all produce symptoms that feel exactly like a failing transmission.
So we check those first. Fluid condition and level, stored and pending codes, live data during a road test, and shift-pressure behavior. If it really is internal, we’ll show you why — and if it isn’t, you’ll pay for the sensor instead of the transmission.
Any one of these is worth a phone call. Most of them are cheaper to fix now than in three months.
Engine RPM rises but the car doesn’t accelerate the way it should.
A clunk into drive or reverse, or a pause of a second or more before the car moves.
Often a torque converter clutch issue — frequently fixable without a rebuild if caught early.
Stored codes often point directly at a solenoid or sensor rather than internal failure.
Healthy fluid is bright and clean. Dark and burnt means heat damage is already happening.
Can be transmission, but can also be a bearing or differential. Worth isolating before spending.
We start with condition, level and stored data — the cheapest information available.
We watch shift points, pressures and slip in real conditions, not just in the bay.
Sensor, solenoid, service, rebuild or replacement — with the reasoning laid out.
Verified on a road test, then covered by our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty.
Often, no. We’ve had plenty of vehicles come in after being quoted a full replacement elsewhere that needed a solenoid, a sensor or a proper fluid service. We’ll test before we quote.
It depends on the vehicle and how you drive — towing and Texas heat both shorten the interval. Many manufacturers call for 60,000 to 100,000 miles; we’ll check your specific schedule and the fluid’s actual condition.
Not automatically, but it depends on condition. We’ll inspect the fluid and tell you honestly whether a service helps or whether you’re better off saving toward a rebuild.
Both, depending on the vehicle, the failure and the math. We’ll walk you through the cost and expected life of each option before you decide.
Timing, gaskets, misfires and full rebuilds — diagnosed before anything gets quoted.
ExplorePads, rotors, calipers, struts and alignment — measured and shown before quoted.
ExploreRecharge, leak detection, compressors and blend doors — the leak gets found.
